Spending a day out of the city can seem like a daunting task… How will you get there? Where will you go? What will you do? Not anymore!
Check out our Top 5 Day Trips below and all you’ll need is a train ticket.
1. Beacon, NY
Hop on the MetroNorth for an hour and a half and you’re in Beacon, NY. This town is full of things to do, being dubbed the “hippest” city in the Hudson Valley. Shopping, restaurants, hiking, and museums are some of the options that you can fill your day with.
2. Vineyards in Long Island’s North Fork
By grabbing the LIRR you can make your way out to Long Island’s North Fork. It’s over an hour, like most places worth day tripping to are, but at the end of this ride there are many delicious vineyards! That’s right – it’ll be wine o’clock when you arrive! Our favorite is Macari. With almost 20 wines to choose from and gorgeous scenery it’s one you won’t want to miss.
3. Storm King Art Center
Widely celebrated as one of the World’s leading sculpture parks, Storm King Art Center is located in the lower Hudson Valley only an hour away from Manhattan. Coach USA offers two day trip packages, one of which includes a trip to outlet stores, if you’re interested. Otherwise you can take NJ Transit or a Zip Car.
4. Hudson, NY
One of our favorite day trips is to Hudson, NY. Two hours on Amtrak will get you to this historic city. There’s art trails, garden tours, family homes, waterfalls and other various tours you can take to experience Hudson in a day.
5. Apple Picking
If there was a contest for “Most Fall Activity” we think apple picking would win. What do we recommend? Masker Orchard is easily accessible by NJ Transit or Jenkins-Leuken Orchard you can hop on a bus at Port Authority.
