Where did you grow up?

Southern California

What’s the first app you check in the morning?

What’s currently your favorite Instagram account?

For a good laugh, I’m all about ‘Betches’ but for something visually appetizing, I follow ‘Food52’ and ‘Fooddeco’.

What’s the one thing you cannot travel without?

Eye masks

What’s your drink of choice?

Green tea

How long have you lived in NYC?

It’s going to be 7 years in November.

Tell us about your favorite hidden gem in NYC.

For food and drink, my go-to spots include Dimes, Lil’ Frankie’s, and the cocktails at Pouring Ribbons.  I love discovering new gems in the city, and when I lived downtown I used to wander the city hall area, there’s so much history there.

What do you love about NYC style?

How eclectic it is.

What is your favorite NYC meal of all time? When’s the last time you had it?

This is cheesy, but it’s not always the food that makes the meal, in fact it’s usually the company. My parents have each been to New York 1-2 times since I’ve lived here and we shared some great meals because it was just me and my mom or my dad just laughing, eating, and talking. I’m the middle of five and they both live between LA and Hong Kong and those moments are a rarity.  Otherwise I can’t make up my mind since restaurants always change in NYC. I think it would have to be having a fancy breakfast for the first time at Norma’s.  It helped me reimagine breakfast food.

For someone who’s never been to the Meatpacking District, how would you describe it to them?

The Meatpacking District is a vibrant part of the city.  It’s nocturnal, breathing life into New York’s nightlife scene with some of the best restaurants and bars.  It’s also very much alive during the day but much more quaint — you can spend a whole day in Meatpacking and never get bored.

Tell us how you came up with the name for your blog.

It took a few weeks. I came up with a few names, even thought about just going with my name, but The Spicy Stiletto stuck. So many ways to interpret “spicy” and I like that.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you could give yourself 5 years ago?

Stop stressing about every little thing at your day job!

If you could be doing anything in the world, what would it be and why?

I had this conversation with my boyfriend the other day actually. I’ve always been an overachiever and perfectionist by nature and being that way just gets more frustrating with age. A few years ago I don’t think I would’ve imagined doing what I do now, so I’ve learned that it’s important to love and live each experience fully.  What I’m doing now in terms of work and life is the experience I want now.  Doesn’t mean it won’t change but it fulfills me.

What does “living the dream” mean to you?

Living the dream means living a life in which you are not only content — because that changes from time to time — but also in a manner where you are being the best version of yourself.
