It’s hard not to love everything about Coco Rocha and her quirky fabulousness. While we were originally swayed by her beauty, it is her depth of character and poise that ultimately won us over. We were so excited to get a chance to chat with Coco about spending time with her beautiful daughter, Ioni, her fave looks this season, and her travel essentials. Check out our Q+A with the supermodel below.
From walking the runway to hanging with designers backstage to sitting front row, you’ve experienced Fashion Week from every point of view. What is your favorite way to experience NYFW?
Fashion Week can get pretty overwhelming, it’s an intense week. My favorite way to experience the chaos is with my family with me. For the last few years it’s been my husband James by my side. This was the first fashion week with Ioni our daughter so we brought my mother-in-law from England into town to help the baby. It was so nice to have everyone staying at the Dream hotel in a central location for all my fashion week events.
You rocked everything from custom Marissa Webb to Jeremy Scott for Moschino this season! What was your favorite look?
That’s so hard to say! Marissa Webb created 3 unique and amazing looks for me to wear during fashion week which I loved. She has this unbelievable sense of tailoring and I’m in love with the menswear for women look she’s exploring right now. The dress I wore for ZAC Zac Posen that was laced with LED lights coded by girls was really cool too, and a great charity to support.
What show did you consider a standout this season? (We know, we know…it’s so hard to pick just one!)
It was pretty cool to see Givenchy move to New York this season! That was certainly a first. I think everyone gets excited when a major fashion house switches cities, even if it was just a one off. I remember when Zac Posen moved to Paris for a few seasons, it was really interesting to see his clothing against a new backdrop.
It’s safe to say we’re all pretty obsessed with your posts of baby Ioni. What is the best part about bringing her to work with you?
Ioni is just such a joy to be around. She’s always smiling, always laughing. It’s next to impossible to be in a bad mood when you’re with her.
As a supermodel, icon and constant jetsetter, you’ve stayed in a ton of hotels! What is your favorite hotel story?
That’s a tough one! Last summer James and I stayed in a 400 year old cave hotel in Turkey that was pretty epic. When I was a younger model I used to travel a lot with fellow model Behati Prinsloo and we would nearly always end up sharing hotel suites in London, Paris and Milan just because we felt like the fashion weeks were one big slumber party. We had so much fun together. We’d skip fashion parties and have dance-off’s back at the room just the two of us. We were sort of the goof balls of all the models.
What is the #1 must-have when you check in to a hotel?
Good wifi! You would not believe how many nice and fancy hotels have bad internet service. If I cant use my iPad, Facetime, Netflix and email I’m not a happy camper.
During NYFW and your stay at Dream Midtown, you reached 1 million followers and joined Snapchat! What’s been your favorite part about being on Snapchat so far?
I’m loving Snapchat! I think its much more casual than the other social networks. You don’t have to over think it, because its not forever.
